ASHA....A New Found Confidence

ASHA is a campaign lead by Lavanya Sareen Photography for embracing courage and boosting confidence of Acid Attack Fighters. For any person who has suffered an acid attack it is very difficult to regain that confidence because these attacks often disfigures a person for life. For most of us are face is our identity , our confidence and our courage, but when someone takes away or disfigures that face in just a second , how are we suppose to regain ourselves again. When I thought of myself in such a situation I realized no matter how strong I think I am but maybe I can loose that strength forever. And from that moment I never called them an Acid Attack Survivor , but an Acid Attack Fighter. These Fighters are one of the only superheroes we get to see in real life as they have not only fought those villains and acid but also their friends, families and the entire society bravely to earn a respectful position for themselves.

As a professional Photographer , I have observed the changes in the model’s behavior and self-esteem after a photoshoot. They are always more confident and embrace their natural beauty not just after seeing the photos but also because they went through a professional shoot. The lights, camera, music and o the whole environment of a photoshoot gives a person a new perspective towards themselves and the self-image they have in mind. During the shoot we not only just take photos, but also makes the model more comfortable and teaches them posing and most importantly how to embrace their natural face to get the most authentic and beautiful pictures. Once they let go of their fear , they have an opportunity to found a new confidence in themselves.

Through ASHA we would like to contribute our skills and help these fighters to find a NEW CONFIDENCE in themselves. We want to provide them with an amazing experience of a Professional Photoshoot. Giving a gift of confidence is a very difficult or maybe almost an impossible thing but we would like to make the effort to do it. No matter if a face has symmetry or stands according to the societal expectations, every face is beautiful and we are here to embrace it.
